Sorry I'm late

Sorry I'm a little bit late this week - I'm at the state wrestling tournament.

I love state wrestling. It's a great chance to see kids at the top of their sport competing against others at the top of the sport. And, I found out today by reading the program (what a concept, I know) that Stacey Burke, who coached wrestling at Franklin during my formative years, is being inducted into the Nebraska State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame. How awesome is that! Congratulations to Stacey. Now I can say I know a hall of famer.

So the first session of state wrestling was this morning. Classes B and C wrestled their first two rounds, and Seward-area wrestlers did pretty good. I think there were only three who lost their first-round matches, while nine won both matches today. That means they made the semifinals, which will be tomorrow night. I've got three more wrestling this afternoon in about 40 minutes, and at least two of them will probably advance to the semis. Awesome!

So the rest of today, all day tomorrow and a big chunk of Saturday are devoted to wrestling. I'm totally cool with that. Not only do I get to watch some good competition, I get to see people I only see once a year. Not every reporter I know covers wrestling. Most don't even like wrestling. Too bad for them. :)
